– Blues Challengers Wanted! Are you ready to take the stage and shine? The Trinity River Blues Society is searching for talented blues musicians for the North Texas Blues Challenge!

Winners will have the opportunity to represent TRBS and North Texas at the prestigious International Blues Challenge (IBC) in January 2026. The IBC is the world’s largest gathering of blues artists, featuring over 20 clubs on Beale Street and a week filled with competitions, seminars, master classes, and more!

The deadline to register for the North Texas Blues Challenge is June 30th. We have three exciting categories to compete in:

1. Band

2. Solo/Duo

3. Youth (20 and under)

Winners of the Band and Solo categories will also secure guaranteed spots performing at the Denton Blues Festival!

To compete, you must participate in a live, judged music competition—no appointed acts will be accepted.

If you have questions or need more information, please contact us at info@trinityriverblues.org (mailto:info@trinityriverblues.org).

I am also pleased to introduce Alan Tilson (aka Dr. T) as our new Live Music Event Ambassador, dedicated to promoting our talented local musicians.

Additionally, please meet Joe Groves, one of our TRBS Facebook Administrators and a dedicated member of the Trinity River Blues Society. Joe, who enjoys both blues music and photography, has been capturing the spirit of our sponsored events. He first discovered the incredible talent of Izaiah Forman and was so impressed that he began documenting his performances. After attending various events and witnessing the fantastic work of Angela Buffington and the society, Joe decided to become a member. He has since taken on an administrative role, eager to share his love for music with others.

Joe encourages everyone to join the Trinity River Blues Society and experience the incredible events we sponsor. With outstanding artists like Jackie Don Loe and Jeffrey Grits Lewis performing at our shows, there is something for everyone. If you love music or play an instrument, consider becoming a member, paying your dues, and purchasing a t-shirt. Joe looks forward to seeing you at the next event!

Stay tuned for more exciting updates, and let’s keep the blues thriving!

Warm wishes,

Angela Buffington
