KERRIE & ANDREW “JR. BOY” JONES

Kerrie Lepai Jones was born April 15, 1973, to the parents of Michael and Carol Lepai. At an early age she was always singing, and people that knew her knew she had the talent to sing. Later in life she would also sit in and sing at R.L. ‘s Blues Palace, that’s where she met Andrew Jr. Boy Jones. In between gigs with Charlie Musselwhite, he would sit in with R.L. Griffin’s band and sometimes play with her and her band The Shifters.

In 1995 Kerrie started hosting one of the hottest jams in Dallas at the Hole in the Wall Blues Club. The jam lasted for 15 years until the venue closed. She had the respect of the who’s who in the Dallas blues scene and musicians from all genres.

Andrew “Jr. Boy” Jones is a Texas guitarist, singer and songwriter who has recorded and released 7 albums of music. He began playing at a young age and joined Freddie King’s band at age 17 and toured with King for 2 years. Following that he played with Bobby Patterson and was also mentored by Cornell Dupree. In 1973 he rejoined Freddie King’s band where he remained until King died in 1976.
Jones then created his own band and signed a contract with RCA Records. He worked locally in the early 1980’s backing R. L. Griffin and Hal Harris. He also played with Johnnie Taylor until 1985. In 1987 he moved to California where he eventually became a session musician and played on 3 albums with Charlie Musselwhite. These albums are Ace of Harps, Signature and In My Time. He also played and toured the world with Musselwhite until 1996.
There are currently 7 albums of music released by Jr. Boy. After releasing his second album which was titled Watch What You Say, Jones was nominated for a Blues Music Award for “Best New Blues Artist”.

Andrew Jr. Boy Jones Blues Band tours all over Texas and the country. Jr. Boy and his talented wife, singer Kerrie Jones, will be performing on Saturday, February 4th at 7:15 pm at the KNON Bluesfest at Poor David’s. It will be a great show!
