The Road to Memphis!  

We’re still buzzing from the electrifying energy of the 2nd Annual Blues Fest on August 3, 2025! This year’s Trinity River Blues 8th North Texas Blues Challenge crowned:  

– Band Category: Michael King and the Icebreakers  

– Solo/Duo Category: EJ Matthews  

– Best Self-Produced CD: The Aaron Burton Trio (featuring Aaron Burton, William “Stompin Bill” Johnston, and Dirk Cordes) for If Mama Aint’s Happy, Nobody’s Happy  

 

All winners will represent North Texas at the Blues Foundation International Blues Challenge (IBC) in Memphis, January 2026!  

  

TRBS Meetup

Join us for the CT Davis Powerhouse Blues Jam featuring Michael King as special guest! This is a great opportunity to connect with fellow blues enthusiasts while supporting our Memphis-bound artists.

Drummathon 2025  

Trinity River Blues Society proudly sponsored Drummathon 2025 with Roland at Legacy Hall in Plano. This event raised $71,000 for breast cancer research, mammograms, and patient support.  

 

Highlights:  

– Drum clinic with Lori Peters (Skillet), Johnny Kelly (Quiet Riot), Keio Stroud (Big & Rich), and David Walters (Big Daddy Band)  

– Performance of I Run for Life by Band of Survivors  

– Special appearances by Zoro (Lenny Kravitz) and Matt Starr (Ace Frehley Band)  

 

TRBS attendees included President Angela Buffington, board member Aquarius Fletcher (breast cancer survivor and drummer), Jeannine Cumming, RoseMarie Babbitt, and more.  

  

Texas Women in Music Jam

Trinity River Blues Society

Coat, Food, & Membership Drive

Date: November 16, 2025

Event Highlights:  

– Showcase featuring the Aquarius All Star Band and diverse musical talent  

– Open to all genres, solos, duos, and full bands  

– Men welcome to jam – spotlight on women artists!  

 

TRBS Activities:  

1. Membership Drive: Renew or join to sustain blues programming

2. Food & Coat Drive: Bring non-perishables and new/gently used coats

  

Sue Foley Ticket Giveaway  

Tickets: Two free tickets to Sue Foley’s November 19, 2025, performance at The Kessler Theatre
