The Trinity River Blues Society is ecstatic to announce another reason to join us at the International Blues Challenge (IBC) in Memphis this January 2025! We are thrilled to reveal that TRBS has chosen KNON 89.3 The Voice Of The People as this year’s recipient of the prestigious Keeping The Blues Alive Award!
KNON has been a vital force in the Dallas/Fort Worth area, passionately supporting local blues artists and enriching our community through its unwavering dedication to the genre. Their commitment to promoting blues music and fostering talent is truly commendable, and we are excited to celebrate this achievement at the IBC!
### What is the Keeping the Blues Alive Award?
Each year, The Blues Foundation presents the Keeping the Blues Alive (KBA) Awards to individuals and organizations that have made significant contributions to the world of blues music. The upcoming 2024 KBA Awards will be presented at a recognition brunch as part of the IBC weekend events.
Unlike the Blues Music Awards, which recognize the past year’s best recordings and performances voted on by thousands of members, the KBAs are awarded to non-performers based strictly on merit by a select panel of blues professionals. The committee typically refrains from awarding the KBA to the same individual or organization more than once, ensuring that new leaders in the blues community are recognized each year.
Affiliated organizations, past KBA recipients, and members of The Blues Foundation’s Board of Directors are eligible to submit nominations. If you know a deserving person or organization, we encourage you to reach out to someone authorized to nominate and help them submit!
Nominees and recipients of the Keeping the Blues Alive Awards must align with The Blues Foundation’s values as a welcoming and inclusive organization, as reflected in our Statement Against Racism.
