Brian ‘Hash Brown’ Calway was born on September 22nd, 1955, in Connecticut. His love for the Blues started as a young man, when he was exposed to the live blues of Muddy Waters and Willie Dixon. He grew up listening to and being influenced by local blues greats Roomful of blues and Sugar Ray Norcia and the Bluetones, along with the many touring blues acts playing in the northeast, such as James Cotton, Muddy Waters, Gatemouth Brown, and Otis Rush.

Hash Brown moved to Dallas, TX in the summer of 1983. He was immediately exposed to the thriving blues scene in Dallas and North Texas, being influenced
and playing with a string of greats in the blues field, including Anson Funderburgh, ZuZu Bollin, Whisting Alex Moore, Ray Sharpe, Henry Qualls, Willie Willis, Big AL Dupree, Little Joe Blue, and many, many more. He has played on at least 50 different recording sessions, and continues to play and record Blues music for a worldwide audience.

Hash Brown’s newest release, ‘STOP! YOUR EVIL WAYS! on Feffrey Records, will be released on Friday June 3rd on hashbrownblues.bandcamp.com
