New Message from President’s Desk for March 2026

Mar 9, 2026 | President's Message, Trinity River Blues Society

From the President’s Desk
Trinity River Blues Society

Spring is bringing new energy to Trinity River Blues Society as we continue expanding opportunities for artists, building community partnerships, and celebrating the music that connects us all. Our focus remains on supporting the blues while creating space for musicians, fans, and volunteers to come together and keep this powerful music alive.

March is Women in Music Month, and Trinity River Blues Society is proud to highlight the incredible women shaping the sound of Texas through our Women in Music Series. We are inviting female musicians and vocalists from across the state to participate in a special initiative designed to elevate their voices and share their stories.

We are looking for women artists who are open to collaborating in an all-female band, comfortable exploring multiple genres beyond blues, and interested in sharing their personal journey on the Back History Podcast, which I host. Back History is produced and directed by ThatsBomb.com and focuses on the back stories of artists, leaders, organizations, and everyday people whose journeys deserve to be heard.

Every bio submitted will be featured across Trinity River Blues Society’s social media platforms because every woman in music deserves recognition. Selected participants will also be considered for an all-female band collaboration and invited to appear on the Back History Podcast.

If you would like to participate, please send your bio, genre(s), and images to angela@trinityriverblues.org.

You can watch the Back History Podcast on YouTube here:

Trinity River Blues Society is also proud to serve as an official sponsor of the 26th Annual KNON Blues Festival. Volunteers are needed in the TRBS booth on Saturday from 6:00 PM to 11:00 PM and Sunday from 3:00 PM until close. Volunteers will have the opportunity to enjoy the event and music before their shift. If you would like to be part of this historic festival, please reach out to angela@trinityriverblues.org.

I will also be representing Trinity River Blues Society at FWAAMFEST, where I will be discussing the organization and our work supporting blues artists and live music throughout North Texas.

We recently wrapped up a meaningful Black History Month celebration, honoring the roots of the blues and the Black artists whose creativity, resilience, and cultural influence gave birth to this music we all love. Thank you to everyone who helped us celebrate and recognize the artists who shaped the blues. Looking ahead, we are excited to announce that the North Texas Blues Challenge has been reimagined and renamed the Trinity River Blues Society Challenge and Festival. The event will take place August 2, 2026, at the Platinum Music Complex in North Richland Hills, owned by Duane Tyree. This state-of-the-art facility offers professional staging, lighting, sound, and auditorium seating. Categories will include solo artists, duos, youth performers, and full bands. Registration details will be announced soon on our website.

We are currently seeking vendors, food trucks, and auction items for the festival. Vendor spots are $50, and auction donations—especially music-related items—are welcomed. Proceeds will help support stipends for Challenge winners and fund Trinity River Blues Society programs and events.

Our partnership with Texas Women in Music continues through a series of jam sessions designed to bring musicians together and create opportunities to perform and network.

Upcoming dates include:

March 8, 2026 — 2 PM to 6 PM

Hosted by the Fender Benders

The Poop Deck Bar and Grill — Fort Worth

March 22, 2026 — 3 PM to 7 PM

Hosted by Aquarius All Star Band

Plano Sports Tavern — Plano

April 26, 2026 — 3 PM to 7 PM

Hosted by the Lake Rats Band

Guitars and Growlers — Richardson

These jams welcome originals and covers from all genres. Solo artists, duos, bands, and singer-songwriters are encouraged to participate. While the jams are open to everyone, we continue working to spotlight the talented women musicians and vocalists throughout our region.

As our organization continues to grow, we are also calling on volunteers who share a passion for the blues. Opportunities include event support, graphic design, membership outreach, merchandise, volunteer coordination, and more. If you would like to get involved, we would love to have you join our team.

We are also seeking sponsors for Trinity River Blues Society events and merchandise. Sponsorship provides businesses and individuals with visibility through our website, newsletter, and social media while helping support blues programming across North Texas.

If you are not yet a member of Trinity River Blues Society, we encourage you to join us at the individual, family, or business level and become part of a growing community dedicated to preserving and promoting the blues.

Thank you for continuing to support live music and the artists who keep the blues alive. I look forward to seeing many of you at upcoming events.
