Hey there, Blues Community!

 We’re kicking things off with a HUGE congratulations to our Blues Challenge winners, Michael King and the Icebreakers, and EJ Matthews! They’ll be representing North Texas in Memphis this January, and we couldn’t be prouder! 

Here’s what’s happening in our blues world:

Upcoming Events: 

September 7: TRBS Meetup Join us at the Poop Deck Sunday Funday Jam in Ft Worth with Texas Women in Music, hosted by the award-winning Fender Benders band from 2 PM to 6 PM. Get a membership . Get some great food and listen to some phenomenal musicians. 

September 14: TRBS Blues EPIC Party and Meetup!  Save the Date! Hosted by TRBS Music Ambassador and Board Member Alan Tilson and another board members this FREE event is for everyone—current members, new members, past members, and friends! Spread the word and share this event with your crew. The more, the merrier!  Join us at The Bartonville Store for an amazing lineup: 

Joey Love Acoustic Solo Brunch from 11:00 AM to 1:30 PM 

CT Davis Powerhouse Blues Band & Jackie Don Loe from 2:30 PM to 5:30 PM

September 19-21: The Denton Blues Festival is back at 610 Oakland St, Denton, TX! 

The Trinity River Blues Society was asked to help book most of the artists for The Denton Blues Festival.

Here are just a few names of artists we booked: the winner of our North Texas Blues Challenge Band Category, Michael King & The Icebreakers, will be performing. They will be going to the IBC in Memphis this January! Our emcee, CT Davis, will perform with his CT Davis & Powerhouse Blues Band. The Izaiah Forman Trio will also take the stage! The icon, the legend B’Noris King Band, will elevate the stage, and the award-winning Gregg A. Smith Band will not only perform but also bring you an unforgettable blues experience. Plus, the 1st runner-up of The TRBS North Texas Blues Challenge, Noni Rae and The Cheddar Boyz Blues, will be performing! TRBS was honored with booking the featured musicians as well. We are super excited . We hope everyone enjoys the lineup. 

Exciting Announcement: The 2026 International Blues Challenge Best Self-Produced CD Competition is officially OPEN!  If you have a self-produced CD with 3 or more songs released between November 1, 2024, and October 21, 2025, we want to hear YOUR music! It doesn’t have to be fancy—just bring your passion and creativity!

What is the Best Self-Produced CD Award?

Established in 2005 by The Blues Foundation, this award celebrates excellence in independent blues recordings. It’s all about recognizing the hard work and talent of independent artists in our vibrant blues community and ensuring the future of this uniquely American art form. 

Here’s how it works: TRBS will host a listening session for all submitted CDs, and a winner will be chosen to represent the Trinity River Blues Society and North Texas at the prestigious Blues Foundation for the 2026 Best Self-Produced Challenge in Memphis this January!

 Don’t miss out—the entry deadline is October 21, 2025! Submit your CDs to be considered and take your shot at this fantastic opportunity! For more information angela@trinityriverblues.org
