The Trinity River Blues Society (TRBS)

Trinity River Blues Society Challenge
Sunday August 2, 2026

The winners will join other performers that were selected worldwide by their local Blues Societies to participate
in the International Blues Challenge (IBC) being held on Beale Street, Memphis, TN. 2027, (DateTBD)

The NTBC is a judged event with the following categories:

Band (3 or more members)
Solo/Duo (Act consist of 1 or 2 members)
Youth (All participants must be under 21 years of age.)

To enter, please complete the online form and submit the $25 entry fee.
The entry fee is non-refundable and will go towards travel expenses.
Contestants are responsible for their own travel costs to Memphis.

However, TRBS will provide the following travel support awards:
Band Category Winner: $1,000
Solo/Duo Category Winner: $750
Youth Category Winner: $300

This is a Blues Challenge, and part of the criteria the Artists performance will judge is Blues content.

To enter, please complete the online form and submit the entry fee. The entry fee is non-refundable and will go towards travel expenses. TRBS will contribute to your travel fund, but acts must invest in their travels as well.

The application deadline is July 1st, 2026

THE AGREEMENT

Background
The Trinity River Blues Society (TRBS) is a non-profit organization with the goal of promoting and preserving the historic music genre known as The Blues.

As part of the International Blues Challenge (IBC), TRBS is promoting a regional musical challenge for North Texas area blues musicians in the following three categories: Band, Solo/Duo and youth (TRBS Challenge).

Musicians are participating in the TRBS Challenge in hopes of representing TRBS at the IBC in Memphis in January of 2027.

The Agreement
Contestant means a band, solo/duo or youth artist musical participant in the TRBS Challenge.
Contestant enters the TRBS Challenge with no guarantee of being selected as the winner in their respective categories. Contestant agrees to the ruling of the independent judges under the guidelines set forth by the IBC. Full rules and judging criteria can be found online at blues.org
If Contestant is not 21 years old, then a qualified representative/guardian must accompany the Contestant to the TRBS Challenge and to the IBC in Memphis.

The undersigned is the Contestant or legal guardian/representative for the individuals listed on this form.

The Contestant or legal guardian/representative attests that each participant has NOT appeared on a final Handy/Blues Music Award ballot.

Contestant has NOT competed at the IBC for the previous two years representing any blues society or affiliate.

Contestant permits the TRBS the right to use Contestant’s names, voices, pictures, visages and other likenesses for the purpose of advertising, publishing, and promoting the TRBS.

The Award
Contestants are responsible for their own travel costs to Memphis.

However, TRBS will support fundraising initiatives and will award $1,000 for the band category winner, $750 for the solo/duo category winner and $750 to the youth category winner (The Award). The Award is NOT prize money for winning the TRBS.

The Award will only be dispersed upon confirmation the Contestant shall represent TRBS at the IBC. To be eligible for The Award, contestant agrees to perform at a fundraising performance following the TRBS Challenge. The performance requires a minimum 1 hour performance prior to the IBC in January 2027.

The Acceptance
The Contestants has read and agrees to abide by the Agreement and the rules of the TRBS Challenge set forth by the TRBS and the IBC.
